Groovy Goat, New Sports and Entertainment Restaurant, Coming to OWA September 30
New Themed Restaurant Ready to Become OWA’s Center for Sports and Games
Foley, Ala. (August 30, 2017) – The grooviest, greatest sports and entertainment restaurant of all time will be launching at OWA on September 30, providing visitors and locals a great venue for food, drink, sports and games.
Groovy Goat is the latest concept from Sunshine Ventures, an Orlando-based restaurant company, which held the development agreement for Buffalo Wild Wings in Central Florida among several other concepts. Several of his restaurants were in the tourism corridor, including two near the entrances to Walt Disney World.
“This area of Alabama has started a tourism renaissance and we’re excited to bring to fruition a concept sports fans, families and nearly anyone will find appealing,” says Andrew Gross, CEO, Sunshine Ventures. “What the Poarch Band of Creek Indians is building will be a true destination for the entire southeast and we believe a concept like Groovy Goat will become an iconic part of this growth.”
Groovy Goat will be located at the front entrance of OWA, the first restaurant to open in the complex’s Downtown District. A ticket to The Park at OWA is not required to dine at Groovy Goat.
When it opens, Groovy Goat will feature the largest screens for sports in the area. It will have a menu filled with top-of-the-line food and drinks, including many local specialties. It will have more than 40 arcade games and several experiences to be announced later.
Groovy Goat’s scratch kitchen offers a twist on many of the traditional sports restaurant offerings. The menu will feature everything from soups and salads to steaks and seafood. All dishes, including the salad dressing, will be made from scratch, providing some of the freshest and tastiest meals in the area.
The menu has new twists as well. For instance, “Tableside Nachos Your Way” are a spectacular display where guests’ nachos orders are custom made at their table. Groovy Goat’s wings are grilled over a wood fire. There is even a selection of “All-day Hangover” items, where twists on breakfast are served throughout the day.
“We’ve worked hard to beat our customers’ expectations on what they would find in a traditional sports bar,” Gross says. “Our food will be anything but typical and the experience will be unlike any they have seen at a sports bar.”
“We are quite particular in finding the right operator that will provide a unique dining experience for our OWA guest. We believe Andrew’s track record of success in one of the world’s largest tourism area is impressive, and that Groovy Goat will provide a fun cutting edge sport bar experience,” says Greg Rawls, Director of Business Development for OWA. “We’re looking forward to the families coming to OWA to have a great option for sports and other entertainment after experiencing a day at OWA.”
On September 30, Groovy Goat will host an opening weekend of events showcasing how sports and food are intertwined. Each of the weekend’s featured games will be shown on the massive screen inside or under the stars on the patio.
Groovy Goat at OWA will be the first location of the concept. Other, undisclosed locations will be explored as the concept looks to expand in destination markets in the Southeast.

About OWA: A world-class entertainment destination owned and operated by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, OWA’s design celebrates its rural roots and the area’s natural beauty. The name OWA was inspired by the 14-acre lake at the center of this unique project. The complex will have the feel of a small Southern town that evolved through time with distinct districts, such as the Warehouse District, Downtown District and “The Park at OWA,” its Amusement District.
OWA’s 150-room Marriott TownePlace Suites is now open to the public, as well as its 14-acre amusement park. The Park at OWA features more than 20 rides, in-park dining, and a variety of midway games.
